Visionaries and Logistics People: The Kabbalah of Malchut and Getting Things Done
Why the final week before Sinai pairs royal imagination with bottom-line execution—and why Malchut needs Chesed
Are you a procrastinator, or a "lean green Tachlis (bottom line) driven machine"? Either way, you benefit from next weeks spiritual energy framed by the Sefira (spiritual force field) of Malchus: A full week highlighting the divine and (subsequent human)Characteristic of full actualization. Malchus literally means Kingship; thus the symbolic framework of a King interacting with his subjects forms the crux of its conceptual basis.
In short: On one hand you have the overall energy of Royalty ( symbolizing the detachment inherent in the creative imagination of the king as he visualizes the best possible life for his constituents ) alongside the more prosaic aspects of Royalty ( the actual carrying out of that responsibility to ensure the welfare of the kingdom and the wellbeing of its subjects)
The upcoming surge of MALCHUS fueled supplemental energy is welcomed by the bionic achiever who is always eager to up his game, and of course is seen as a veritable fiesta for the more visionary idea people who often seem deeply frustrated at being perpetually stuck in neutral: A frustration borne not from a lack of knowing what to do, but rather a struggle with implemententation resulting in a chronic inability to follow through and do it.
In truth however, the richness of the Kabbalistic Schematics lies in its integrative nature, and nowhere is that more apparent than Malchus. By subjecting each particular energy to the moderating influence of the other six, the trap of restrictive, one dimensional character definitions is avoided.
So while the overriding characteristics of Malchus might indeed point to those who sees themselves as logistics people - hand them the concept and they know how to execute; The Kabala framework emphasizes the importance of being imaginative even in the logistical sphere. Malchus needs Chesed as much as Chesed needs Malchus! The logistics people with an edge are those who have mastered the art of deploying imaginatively into the actual "field" - those with the means to build out the idea, while adhering to its original vision and retaining its soul.
Still, it's important to note, that the final countdown to receiving Torah is framed by an emphasis on action over inspiration, and execution over elocution.
Though the Torah encompasses both the information on how to do the Mitzvot, as well as the actual Mitzvot; given the choice to dwell on the idea of a Mitzvah at the expense of the actual Mitzvah itself, the performance of the Mitzva wins out every time. This is not to say that the Malchut driven DOING of Judaism is sustainable in the long term without its Chesed enlightenment. It's not. Kind of like the importance of being gracious in our kindness to others by doing a favor with a smile on our faces.
Much Love!!!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Yossi
